Modern times come talk me down

Posted in Featured, Photography by Konrad on the September 19th, 2008

Who would have thought that it’s been two years already since I brought this blog to life, I’m actually surprised (supplied) myself. It’s fun to look at the old times tho, you know, just after you get that idea to create a blog on the internet for the very first time and you don’t really know what to do with it for a long while kinda thing? it’s funny if you ask me(spoiler: when you hit the 30 posts barrier it’s downhill from there, after that you know where you’re going with your stuff and it gets more interesting for everybody). So it’s two years later now and I guess I gotta keep going, especially because my 90,000+ guest visits is something to be proud of, thanks all!

It’s september already so It’s back to school for me, and that means a lot of time to read a book or two in the subway. As I’m on the subject of books, I wish I had access to W.Suworow books, maybe they aren’t the best books out there but I really like my private vision of a russian KGB agent, Anastasia. Kinda hot isn’t it? woman secret killer agent, “Control” I think that was the name of that book. Anyway, everytime I read or watch something about the future, everything with the concept of Big Brother system in it I’m a little bit surprised how people don’t see that we already might be living in one. Bladerunner and Fifth Element with sky high buildings and flying cars, corporations ruling the world with huge billboards of the size of a football pitch. Where have I seen this, ow yea I know where ( maybe except flying cars). In New York. I totally don’t get how people just can’t seem to connect the dots.

But whhhy?!?

Posted in Featured, Photography by Konrad on the September 2nd, 2008

So I’ve been browsing the web today, grabbed my coffee ( couldn’t quit, sorry, just too good this thing is) and I thought to myself that it’d be nice if I’d look around for some new work, discover some unknown artists or simply something !caugh! inspiring. Its not really my thing to be in touch with new and coming stuff as I don’t see any sense in this, I think it’s super boring, and mind you, it’s not just plain ignorance on my side. Everytime somebody asks me whether I got this new issue of this and that I go “but whhhhy?” in my head, seriously, why would I be interested in something like that? I’m a creator (lately not really but thats a different story), and creators are usually creative! passive viewer is not creative. It’s kinda ok if you got this certain idea and you want to do a little research on that in a magazine (still B/S tho, futile effort most of the times) but to get yourself addicted?, I say that’s crazy. So why do I say that browsing for images is useless? because I believe that only when you cut yourself out of this habbit, only after you know nothing and you’re not confused with tons of images in your head, you’re truly able to focus and create something interesting, sort of. In other words, it means a big no-no to a waste of time called “browsing for interesting images just to get better” This unnecessary brainwash only makes you unhappy with whatever you photograph. It’s a never ending circle of confusion that’s pissing you off everytime you see something that you invented yesterday appear in the latest issue of the magazine. So yea, I rarely check who photographed what or where and who. As I said it’s not plain ignorance, because It doesn’t mean you should cut yourself out from opinions and ideas of third party people, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be up to date with what your favorite artists are doing, actually studying one artist’s work(especially in a form of a book) is a very good idea, that’s a creative brainwash, so yea, mind the gap there.
